National Air Cargo is currently seeking to fill the following position:

Gateway Specialist-LAX
Operations / Americas

Job Description:

Works in conjunction with National Air Cargo corporate operations to achieve optimum use of National’s LAX Gateway operation. Must be flexible and able to handle all aspects of opening and managing National’s LAX Gateway office.

Essential Functions:

Operations
·        Oversees paperwork flow for schedule flight , closely working with gound handler provider to ensure compliance , both for imports and export.
·        Ensures all cargo operations and security standards are maintained by any agents or suppliers who interface with National Air Cargo business. 
·        Reconciliation of manifest to include identification of “collect” shipments.
·        Analyze daily reports and collection of payments if necessary.
·        Liason with BUF OPS, prepare documents, label cargo, take pictures of outgoing shipments
·        Close out and report daily shipment counts
·        Customs interface to include both export and import knowledge working in conjunction with our regional office in BUF.
·        Tracking/Tracing trouble shooting
·        Proactive route planning for future National Air Cargo endeavors
Customer Service
·        Obtain rate quotes for customers
Sales
·        Work in conjunction with regional BDM and sales team to support all customer needs that are serviced through this gateway operation
·        Serve as interim office manager for LAX location.
·        Answer phones, order supplies when necessary, open/close office daily.
Airline
·        As directed by Regional Operations Manager, interfaces, negotiates, and ensures full accountability to National Air Cargo routing and pricing requirments with any Air Carriers involved with forwarding cargo through LAX

·        Knowledge of governmental regulations related to domestic and international freight forwarding required
·        Leadership skills required.
·        Ability to work with and trouble shoot IT issues with onsight equipment

May perform other duties as required or directed.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

Qualifications:
·        Previous knowledge, work experience in LAX airport area, freight forwarding and airline experience preferred.
·        Must have proven experience as a team player and ability to multi task in a dynamic work environment.
·        High school degree required, college degree preferred
·        Must speak English.
 

Mental Requirements:

·        Math skills and creative thinking are a must.
·        Excellent verbal and written skills required.
 
Computer Skills:
·        Proficient in Microsoft Applications (excel, word, powerpoint, etc.).
 

Certificates, Licenses:
·        Must be able to obtain or possess knowledge to be Dangerous Goods certified.
 
 
 
Physical Demands:
Extended periods at work work station, using a keyboard, viewing a computer screen, and communicating by telephone and in person. Some requirement to travel to potential customers offices or work location which may be warehouses or other non-typical office space, all in driving distance from the Gateway.
 
Work Environment:
·        Office job with occasional need to work within a warehouse/airport environment.
 
Travel/Other requirements:
·        Local travel within driving distance from the Gateway.
